Far more interesting was the congressional race in New York where the extremist base of the republican party forced their moderates to support the democrats. Even with the likes of Fred Thompson, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh saturation of the air waves, the voters rejected an extremist and their radical culture war. This combined with the new republican governors should send a message loud and clear that their culture war is no longer going to be a positive voter incentive. People are more interested in how a government can improve the lives of their citizens.
As usual, when the economy is in trouble so are incumbents. If republicans want to regain influence, they should take note and learn how to govern considering they offered nothing since Bush/Cheney let the economy tank and they lost so badly in 2008.
