Computer Technician:
General statement of duties:
Installs, upgrades, maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs network and computer system hardware, software and peripherals. Supports and maintains user account information including passwords, rights, security and systems groups. Assists in documenting and inventorying computer equipment. Documents service calls.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Continuously strives to attain the highest level of customer satisfaction. Instills confidence in customer by acting with a high degree of professionalism, and technical expertise.
2. Analyzes, Diagnoses and repairs hardware and software malfunctions on computers, terminals, printers, and related equipment. Installs computer hardware and accessories. Analyzes LAN issues. Tests and replaces network components. Installs, troubleshoots, modifies, and repairs operating systems and applications. Has complete knowledge of standard technical concepts, practices, and procedures.
3. Responsible for the physical relocation of computer equipment and the necessary cabling.
4. Assists in maintaining an inventory of computer equipment. Supplements Technical Support staff to maintain minimum staffing requirements, or during heavy call volume.
5. Makes recommendations to improve service capabilities.
6. Continually cultivates positive relationships with MHS personnel and venders.
Minimum Education and Experience:
1. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. Prefer college or trade school with A+,Network+ and MCDST certifications or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
3. Prefer two years of experience in a combination of personal computers, networks and cabling technology in multi-topology LAN/WAN environment.
4. Knowledge of personal computer operating systems. Knowledge of computer hardware capabilities, architecture and operations. Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic procedures. Knowledge of network devices, cabling and communication protocols.
5. Ability to communicate with users about computer problems using conversational English and Analogies instead of technical terms.
