The classic Rancilio Silvia set the bar for high-quality home espresso machines decades ago, and it's still a highly recommended option in the modern market. It's built like a tank with commercial parts by industry leader Rancilio, and it's the standard other home units are measured against.
This one is upgraded with a high-accuracy Auber Instruments PID controller, with shot timer, pre-infusion and water/steam temperature control features. (This PID with cool blue LED and stainless steel case alone is over $200!) These earlier Silvias have extra M4 screw holes in the boilers that later models don't have, and the PID thermostat uses a high-end platinum PT100 RTD sensor screwed into one to get temperature readings of 1° accuracy or better during extraction!
Included are single, double and triple shot filter baskets, along with two flat 58mm tampers: one with a beautiful rosewood handle, and one that's solid stainless steel. I also have steaming pitchers, cleaning brushes etc if you want them.
Also, unlike most home units, you can safely backflush the Silvia for cleaning like a commercial machine. The 3-way solenoid valve sends the water blocked by the blind filter during cleaning into the drip tray below. I'm also including a blind filter along with the Cafiza powder needed for it.
If you're new to home espresso, remember there's a learning curve so be patient! It takes time to master the variables to pull those incredible "god shots" consistently that everyone talks about. Fresh coffee and a good grinder is a must, and I suggest even learning how to roast your own coffee to really get the full experience. It's not as hard as you may think, and there are tons of videos nowadays for all of this stuff. Have fun - you'll love it!!!
