The Mola, or Molas, is a handmade textile art form made by the Kuna people of Panama and parts of Colombia. Here presented are 2 Kuna vintage ones framed behind glass in fine metal. Mola forms part of the ancient women’s clothing which originated w/the traditions of Guna women who painted their bodies w/geometric designs; in much later years these same designs were woven in cotton cloth bought from European settlers. Many hours of careful sewing are required to create a fine Mola. Hence their lofty prices. Their designs are often inspired by modern graphics, etc. The superior ones are works of art employing several colors and are framed as such as are the two pictured here. The large one at $55 measures 11”W x 10 1/2”H; the other at $45 is 7 1/2”W x 7 1/2”H. You’ll love these vintage art treasures wherever you display them. One on left symbolizes the zodiac sign of cancer but has already been sold and is no longer available. Enjoy! Local Pickup. Cash and Carry Only.
