This very rare find is a large glazed stoneware flagon made in Bristol, UK, by The Price brothers who occupied several potteries in the Temple and St.Thomas's areas of Bristol dating back to the early 19th century.
Specializing in containers for beers, spirits, condiments and other commestables their stoneware was salt glazed inside and out allowing produce to be preserved and kept cool whilst in transit, enabling otherwise perishable products to be exported.
This is a wonderful vintage piece which shows beautifully and is in excellent condition compared to others for sale in the same time period.
Stamped "T. W. Coleman, LTD, Grocers & Spirit Merchants, Banbury" and "Price 10 Bristol". Measures 6.5" across x 10.5" bottom to top.
