Information on Opaline Glass: A highly collectible glass with a jewel-like quality that is always hand blown. The glass is opaque or slightly translucent and can appear white or brightly colored. Sixteenth century Venetian milk glass and English white glass became the influences for this style of glass. Many pieces of opaline glass are decorated with gilding, as is with this pair of lamps.
