1974 VW Dune Buggy

Engine

VW 1600 CC, rebuilt Solex carburetor, new push rod tubes, inspected cylinder heads and cylinder walls and looked great, new spark plugs, points, wires, oil pressure and oil temperature sending units, belt, fuel line, tank sending unit, tank fabricated to match lemans style fuel cap in hood, pea shooter exhaust.

Drive train

Transaxle inspected and flushed out, short throw shifter, new seals where needed, new clutch, cables, half shafts, brake drums, brake lines, hardware, master cylinder, shocks, new BF Goodrich tires, wheels blasted and powder coated.

Body/Frame

Frame is a title 1974 VW Beetle, frame has been shorten 14.5 inches, new floor pans were welded in place, shift rod shortened, all items were removed from frame, wire brushed to metal and coated with POR 15 on all parts with exception of interior floor which was coated with a Herculiner bed liner. The Fiberglass body is a Sand Winder made in Dallas Texas, (Manyx clone), I like the side tanks that add curves to the normally flat sides, originally Green with heavy metallic, now Jet Set blue with silver, blue and purple metallic, looks phenomenal in the sun.

Interior

New seats, driver has slider, passenger tilts forward, rear bench tilts forward to access battery, Working Fuel, Oil Temp, Oil pressure & alternator gauges, turn signals, hazards, horn, wipers and light. Roll bar is being blasted and powder coated a satin black,

Exterior

Headlights with turn signal integrated in the headlight, tail lights, lemans style gas cap.

Conclusion

Fun to drive, the blurp from the exhaust makes it sound much more powerful than it really is, this is not a tire roaster, handles very well, about 50 MPH on highway feels very stable, lots of looks and thumbs up as it should be, perfect for neighbor hood, beach or resort area.
