For sale is a diesel engine used for starting jumbo jets. This has a monster electric generator (called Auxiliary Power Unit or APU in aviation circles) that's used for engine starting and running things like Air Conditioning. The engine was used in countless other things, from water pumps and mining equipment to fishing boats and utility vehicles. The versions of this engine with more cylinders were in the old semi trucks (same pistons and valves).
A clean example of this assembly is seen at https://www.jetall.com/product/hobart-60g20p/
Although sitting for approximately 5 years, I attempted to start this (after checking oil and attaching two batteries) and it instantly started and ran for 5 seconds. I say in good faith that this engine functions and did not make ugly tapping or grinding sounds (i do have expertise in other engine types).
The rolling cart is mobile on foam-filled tires (Although they are not suitable for the road). I prefer to keep the cart and wheels, but can part with everything if the offer is suitable. The generator likely has $400 in copper wire alone, anda lot of diesel fuel (maybe 100 gallons). I am wanting to sell the engine and generator for the listed price. It has the exhaust (with a turbocharger) and radiator built in.
Great historical detail and information related to this engine family is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Diesel_Series_71
