We are seeking a qualified and experienced Facilities Engineer with a strong background supporting hotels, hospitals, large commercial complexes, or government facilities. This role is responsible for the hands‑on operation, maintenance, and oversight of critical building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations in an occupied environment. The Facilities Engineer/ Lead Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of building systems and equipment. This role ensures facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and standards. The Building Engineer supports day‑to‑day operations and responds to service requests, preventive maintenance schedules, and emergency situations.
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building systems, including:
HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, air handlers, VAVs, exhaust systems)
Electrical systems (lighting, panels, motors, controls)
Plumbing systems (pumps, fixtures, water heaters)
Fire/life safety systems
Building automation and control systems (BAS/BMS)
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to established schedules.
Monitor building systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
Respond to emergency maintenance issues promptly and professionally.
Conduct regular inspections of mechanical rooms, equipment, and building areas.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and inspectors as needed.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
Support facility operations specific to occupied environments, such as hospitals, schools, hotels, or government buildings.
Assist with renovations, system upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Participate in on‑call rotation, after‑hours, or weekend work as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
5 to 7 + years of experience as a Building Engineer or Facilities Engineer.
Experience in one or more of the following environments:
Hotels or hospitality properties
Hospitals or healthcare facilities
Schools or educational campuses
Large commercial or mixed‑use complexes
Government or municipal buildings
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience working in occupied or mission‑critical facilities strongly preferred
EPA Universal Certification or similar technical license preferred
Ability to work independently and participate in on‑call or after‑hours response as needed
