New, Never Used, Carried or Sharpened and somewhat rare Vintage Schrade U.S.A. Special Edition Sharpfinger made for a reputable magazine of that period. The name is on the shield at the front handle in photos #7 & 8. This particular Sharpfinger comes with Black Handles and its original vintage black leather sheath to match and was among the first Sharpfinger to be produced during 1975 & 76.
Sharpfinger along with other Schrade USA Old Timer knives were guaranteed for life and advertised as - A Knife Like Grandad's. & Built To Last a Lifetime and still be able to pass down to your grand kid.
As mentioned above, this knife is the same as the original but with black handles and with the name of the magazine on the shield for whom it was made in lieu of the usual "Old Timer" shield (See photos #7 & 8). The knife is full tang (see photo # 9) and measures an over all length of 7 1/4 inches. The great Schrade Cutlery USA closed its doors for good in 2004. However, their Sharpfinger knives quickly became one of, if not the most popular everyday carry knife Schrade ever made for its friendly carrying size, and yet, handles better with any tasks, including emergency situations. On a personal level, the Sharpfinger is a workhorse and has proven to be the biggest little knife I've ever owned.
The Full tang blade is precision forged and tempered to a Rockwell Hardness in the low 60s. Vintage Schrade USA 1095 High Carbon Steel is the most durable yet easy to sharpen High Carbon steel that will hold its edge longer yet will NOT rollover like many of today's softer high carbon steels, commonly tempered at 52-57 Rockwell Hardness.
This particular knife is one of the earliest model Sharpfinger knives which were first introduced in 1974. This Schrade USA version Sharpfinger comes with its original brand new black leather sheath. As with this particular sheath, the first Sharpfinger sheaths had the secure strap at the mouth of the sheath overlapping the choil -VS- the later model sheaths that had the secure straps at the base of handles until end of production. The beautiful black full grain leather sheath is fully functional with a fully function knife security snap on & off button and all stitching and rivets intact.
