Big T’s Small Engine Repair is currently hiring for a Shop Assistant / Apprentice Mechanic. Some mechanical experience is preferred, but we will train the right person. This job requires heavy lifting (50+ pounds). We are a drug-free workplace. Basic computer and customer service skills are a plus.
We are also hiring part time experienced mechanics who are paid by machine and can set their own schedules during our business days. Part-time employees will be expected to open and close shop for a flat rate on days that they work.
Job Duties and Training for Full-Time Apprentice will include:
Loading and unloading machines on site
Organizing materials and maintaining cleanliness of shop
Light customer service via phone and in person
In the future:
Creating and updating estimates for customers
Ordering parts and supplies as needed for individual jobs or the shop in general
All general aspects in the field of small engine mechanics, including but not limited to diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining machines. We will thoroughly train employees in these areas, and our company provides funding for certifications and update schools as needed while you advance in the field
We are looking for an honest, trustworthy person to train with an opportunity to advance to shop management in the future. This position starts as a 1099-MISC position for the first 90 days, after which there will be an opportunity for W2 employment that includes a raise and paid holidays and sick / vacation leave.
Our shop hours are Saturday 10am to 5pm, Sunday 12pm to 5pm, and Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 9am to 5pm. Employee hours are one paid hour before the shop opens and up to one paid hour past closing. We are closed on Thursdays and Fridays and most major holidays.
